Abstract
The encounter between two concepts of Tadbir and strategy within the management discourse of the Islamic world represents a complex process of intellectual, cultural, and paradigmatic interactions. To analyze this process, the paper uses a conventional qualitative content analysis approach to examine related resources in Persian, Arabic, and English and presents a conceptual spectrum including three themes and six categories. At one end of the spectrum lies passive assimilation (first theme), in which the flow of knowledge is almost entirely unidirectional. This stage manifests itself through mechanisms (categories) of transliteration and substitution. The middle of the spectrum is the stage of tension management and boundary-setting (second theme). Here, the intellectual community in the Islamic world adopts two main approaches (categories): Islamization, which seeks to legitimize the new concept; and coexistence, which, by functionally differentiating domains, defines a separate territory for each concept. Finally, at the other end of the spectrum, deep interaction and creative co-creation (third theme) are manifested at two levels (categories): first, mutual redefinition, in which each concept acts as a critical mirror for the other; and second, integration and synthesis, which aims to create an authentic management model in which instrumental rationality and value rationality are united.
