Abstract
This article explores the concept of freedom from the perspective of Ayatollah Khamenei. It employs content analysis method and utilizes the theory of positive and negative freedom to examine the foundations of freedom from his viewpoint of. This study aims to examine the typology of the concept of freedom in the thought of Ayatollah Khamenei. Ayatollah Khamenei critiques the materialistic approach to freedom for its potential to lead to moral decay. He argues that freedom in Islam is inherently linked to divine law and social responsibility, ensuring that individual liberties do not undermine collective moral and ethical standards. He elucidates the connection between freedom, monotheism, and divine obligation, viewing freedom in relation to the intrinsic value of humanity. The article also addresses the limitations of freedom in a religious governance system, where freedom is constrained by the necessity to prevent corruption, self-harm, and oppression.
